"ATATÜRK LIBRARIES" WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN SOCIAL SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOLS

Within the context of the Protocol for Cooperation in Education signed between the Ministries of National Education and Tourism, "Atatürk Libraries" will be established in 92 Social Science High Schools.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Minister of Tourism and Culture Mehmet Nuri Ersoy attended the signing ceremony organized in the Bahçelievler Prof. Dr. Mümtaz Turhan Social Science High School.
 
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer expressed his happiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture during the ceremony organized at the Bahçelievler Prof. Dr. Mümtaz Turhan Social Science High School.
 
Özer noted that his Ministry has been cooperating with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the last two years in 81 cities as a part of a project concerning raising qualified human resources for the tourism sector.
 
He stated that a recent "Atatürk Libraries Project" which will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will carry the finalized "No More Schools Without Libraries Project" to a higher level.
 
"As of the end of 2021, we established 16,361 libraries at schools and the number of books in the school libraries increased from 28 million to 50 million," said Minister Özer.
 
As a part of the cooperation protocol, Atatürk Libraries will include at least 1000 books selected from the publications of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
 
Minister Özer noted that the project is expected to be completed on October 23, 2023 and aims at establishing libraries in 92 social science high schools in 68 cities. He also expressed his wish to expand the project to other schools in different parts of the country.
 
Stating that Türkiye achieved an important transformation in education in the last 20 years, Özer said, "Developed countries increased their schooling rate in all levels of education to 100 percent in the 1950s. Unfortunately, our country was 70 years late to reach this level."
 
"We plan to complete the project on the 100th anniversary of our Republic"
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said during his speech at the ceremony that "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a historical figure that changed and shaped Turkish society. Due to this reason, the political history of modern Türkiye is associated with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk."
 
Concerning the project aiming at establishing Atatürk Libraries in 92 social science high schools in 68 cities, Ersoy stated that libraries will include 1000 selected books published by Atatürk Culture Center, Language and History Societies of Türkiye and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
 
Minister Ersoy stressed that the project aims at boosting knowledge of students and teachers about the War of Independence and the Republic of Türkiye with these books.
 
He added that they plan to complete the project on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
