DEPUTY MINISTER AŞKAR MEETS WITH HER TURKMENISTANI COUNTERPART MUHAMMEDOVİÇ

Deputy Minister of National Education Petek Aşkar met with Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Atayev Azat Muhammedovic.

During the meeting held at the Tevfik İleri Hall of the Ministry, both ministers exchanged views on cooperation on education between the two countries. 
 
Stating that the common cultural values of Türkiye and Turkmenistan and the bond of brotherhood between the peoples constitute the solid foundations of friendship between the two countries, Deputy Minister Petek Aşkar expressed her gratitude to Turkmenistan for their support in the earthquake disaster that took place on 6 February.  
 
Expressing that the cooperation between the two countries has developed and strengthened in every field on the basis of deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between the peoples, in line with mutual respect and common interests, Aşkar said that the Joint Turkmen-Turkish School, which is one of the most important signs of friendship between the two countries, has been in service in Turkmenistan since 1993. He also stated that he is carrying out education and training activities. Emphasizing that this school is among the most tangible and successful examples of cooperation in the field of education, Aşkar said that this school also contributed greatly to the convergence of the two brother country and its people and to transfer of common values and traditions to future generations.
 
Aşkar noted that based on the principles of mutual equality and utility it is necessary to develop experience sharing in technology and digitalization to raise a generation with the life skills of the next century. 
 
Reminding that the current education cooperation agreement was updated and communicated to Turkmenistan in June 2022 for this purpose, Aşkar stated that the signing process of the agreement will accelerate the cooperation between the two countries. 
 
Stating that Türkiye has undergone a great transformation in education in recent years, Aşkar said that they had four main goals while carrying out this transformation: to expand pre-school education, to minimize the difference in opportunities between schools, to support the professional development of teachers and to strengthen vocational education.  Noting that this transformation has helped them to overcome the pandemic period and the earthquakes experienced on February 6, Deputy Minister Aşkar said that they have succeeded in continuing education under all conditions with different options and support mechanisms.
 
Expressing his pleasure to be in Türkiye, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Muhammedoviç said that they will continue to make every effort to improve cooperation on education between the two countries. 
 
Director General of EU and Foreign Relations Hasan Ünsal, Director General for Information Technologies Özgür Türk, Director General for Innovation and Education Technologies Ertuğrul Karalar and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ankara Mekan İşankuliyev Annamuhammedovic were also present at the meeting.
