MEB EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS

The number of international vocational and technical Anatolian high schools established in order to promote Türkiye's experience in the field of vocational and technical education to the international arena and to provide vocational education opportunities by bringing new horizons to students coming from abroad and students live in Türkiye has reached 10.

International vocational and technical Anatolian high schools, which were opened by the Ministry of National Education to ensure international student mobility around the world, develop mutual cooperation between Türkiye and other countries, and to meet the labor force demands of the economic and social sectors through vocational and technical education, are becoming widespread. Accordingly, the number of international Vocational and Technical Anatolian high schools in Türkiye, which was 7 in 2022, have increased to 10 with the opening of 3 new schools.
 
Emphasizing that after the transformation made in vocational high schools, vocational high schools are now set as an example to the world countries, Mahmut Özer stated that vocational high schools, which were on the verge of closing with the coefficient application in the February 28 process, started to be set as an example to the world countries after the Ministry's paradigm shift. Announcing that they will open three more high schools in addition to the 7 international high schools they opened in 6 provinces in order to carry Türkiye's experience in vocational and technical education to the international arena, Minister Özer said that the number of vocational and technical Anatolian high schools will rise to 10.

Noting that international vocational and technical Anatolian high schools provide vocational education opportunities for young people coming from foreign countries and students in Türkiye, Özer said that within the framework of the protocol signed with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism: İstanbul Bahçelievler İMMİB Erkan Avcı Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School (MTAL) started to admit international students into machinery and design technology department; Beşiktaş İSOV Dinçkök MTAL started to admit international students in renewable energy technologies; Balıkesir İvrindi Nurettin Çarmıklı Mining MTAL started to admit international students in mining technology; Bursa Osmangazi Tophane MTAL started to admit international students in machinery and design technology; Konya Selçuk Mehmet Tuza PAKPEN MTAL started to admit international students to industrial automation technologies department; Ordu Altınordu Ordu The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye MTAL started to admit international students in the field of electrical-electronic technologies and Ankara Gölbaşı Mogan MTAL started to admit international students in the field of food and beverage services as of the 2022-2023 academic year. Underlining that they aim to increase internationalization in vocational education by opening 3 new international vocational high schools as it is stated in the document called: "From 2022 Actions to 2023 Goals 'Century of Türkiye' in Education, Özer announced that Konya Karatay Celaleddin Karatay MTAL will start to admit international students in the field of agriculture; Ankara Etimesgut Cezeri Yeşil Teknoloji MTAL will accept international students in the field of renewable energy technologies, and Antalya Serik Borsa İstanbul MTAL will accept international students in the field of accommodation and travel services.
 
Minister Özer underlined that as young people receive education in these schools, vocational education will make significant contributions to Türkiye's public diplomacy in the long run by gaining an international dimension, going beyond the borders of the country.
 
Özer announced that the application process for international vocational and technical Anatolian high schools will be held between May 2 and May 26, 2023.
 
Stating that the written exam will be held on June 4 and the oral exam will be held on June 4-9 after the evaluation of the applications, Özer said that they will announce the results on June 12. Minister Özer noted that the arrival of students at Türkiye and their placement in schools will be carried out on September 11-15.
