MEB LAUNCHES "POST DISASTER PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT" SEMINARS FOR 1 MILLION 200 THOUSAND TEACHERS

After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) prepared a seminar to inform about 1.2 million teachers working throughout the country on issues such as "disaster and crisis management" and "mental health after disaster".

The Ministry of National Education has prepared and put into practice the "Post Earthquake Psychosocial Support Action Plan" in order to carry out the educational activities in a healthier way after the earthquake disaster in Kahramanmaraş.

In order to contribute to the activities carried out as part of the action plan, seminars on "loss and mourning process of children and adolescents" and " mental health after disaster " were prepared for approximately 1.2 million teachers by distance education method through the Teacher Information Network (ÖBA).

It is aimed to inform the teachers on issues such as "disaster and crisis management" and "mental health after the disaster" with training.

The aim of the seminars is to contribute to the teachers to feel safe in the school and to facilitate their adaptation to the environment in which they are involved, taking into account the level of disaster exposure on the students.

The seminar covers all teachers by taking into account the student transfers.
The seminars are launched through the ÖBA not only for the teachers working in the earthquake region but also for all teachers outside the earthquake zone by taking into account the student transfers from quake-hit provinces.

The seminars are planned to include the pre-disaster and post-disaster preparation processes in the management of disaster and disaster-related crisis environments. The seminar consists of the topics such as "the disaster and crisis management", "the effects of disasters on individuals and society", "mental health after disaster", "grief reactions in children by age groups", "the help and support strategies for children at school", "transition from risk to resilience", "regulation of emotion" and "sense of trust".
