MINISTER ÖZER: 443 THOUSAND 562 WOMEN RECEIVE TRAINING IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CENTERS

Stating that as of today 443 thousand 562 women receive apprenticeship and journeyman training in vocational training centers, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer that there is an eleven fold increase in the number of receiving training in vocational education centers.

Minister Özer attended the Ordu Women's Cooperatives Meeting program at the Ordu Culture and Art Center. Stating that for the first time in the history of the Republic of Türkiye, the enrollment rate in preschool education exceeds the enrollment rate in other levels. Minister Özer said that they have increased this rate from 65 percent to 99.86 percent in Türkiye. Özer noted that the enrollment rate in preschool education, which was 44 percent and 47 percent in Istanbul, has risen to over 90 percent.
 
Özer stated that women wanted to participate in employment but withdrew from employment when their salary was comparable to the money they would pay for their children's daycare. Stating that they have eliminated this situation, Minister Özer emphasized that they have made a very important move so that women can produce, be employed and stay on their feet.
 
Stating that, as the Ministry of National Education, they constantly offer public education centers, advanced technical institutions under the Directorate General for Lifelong Learning and courses that will contribute to the employability of women, Özer said that they reached approximately 3-4 million trainees, 60-70 % are women, throughout Türkiye in 2020. Noting that they set a target of reaching 1 million citizens every month in 2022, Özer said that this number corresponds to 700 thousand women.
 
Expressing that they reached 13.5 million citizens in 2022, Özer stated that they reached 4.5 million citizens, 70% of whom were women, within 3 months in 2023.
 
"We will gradually reduce the youth unemployment in Türkiye"
Reminding that they made a very important change in the law on vocational training centers at the end of 2021, Özer said that for the first time they have created an attractive vocational training center for both the employer and the unemployed. Stating that people enrolling in this training center receive 30 percent of the minimum wage for three years during their apprenticeship period and 50 percent when they become a journeyman, Özer emphasized that they also provide insurance for these people against work accidents and occupational diseases. Stating that the number of apprentices and journeymen in Türkiye was 159 thousand at the end of 2021, Minister Özer stated that this number has reached 1 million 400 thousand today. Expressing that 1 million 400 thousand young unemployed and women receive training in vocational training centers, Özer stated that in this way, they will both train the human resources needed by the labor market and gradually reduce the youth unemployment in Türkiye.
 
Pointing out that there were only 39 thousand 391 female apprentices and journeymen out of 159 thousand, Özer stated that today there is an eleven fold increase in the as 443 thousand 562 women receive apprenticeship and journeyman training in vocational training. Özer said that they aim to support women by raising them as strong and able to stand on their feet and protect their families.
 
Emphasizing that all this happened under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Özer expressed his gratitude to the President. Stating that they want to strengthen the women's cooperatives in Ordu as the Ministry of National Education, Özer noted that they want to spread a model they will create in Ordu throughout Türkiye. Announcing that they aspire to buy all the foods, beverages produced by women's cooperatives, and products that can be used in the hostels, practice hotels and teacher's houses affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, Minister Özer said that they will admit at least one master trainer for each women's cooperative.
