MINISTER ÖZER EXPLAINED PROJECTS CARRIED OUT IN THE LAST YEAR WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF EQUITABILITY AND INCLUSIVITY TO OECD COUNTRIES

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer explained projects carried out in Türkiye in the last year within the context of equitability and inclusivity during the session held on the second day of the OECD Education Ministers' Meeting in Paris under the theme of "Equitability and Inclusivity in Education Through the Perspective of All Humanity".

Minister Özer noted that Türkiye  has achieved important change and transformation in terms of increasing equal opportunity in education adding that his Ministry made an important policy change in increasing the accessibility to preschool education in the last year.

Özer said that he wanted to mention developments achieved in Türkiye in lifelong learning during the "Equitability and Inclusivity in Education Through the Perspective of All Humanity" session.

"The Ministry of National Education does not offer education only to students at school age but also provides lifelong education to adults," said Özer.

Özer stressed that they have been going through an overall transformation since the last year adding that, "Every month, we give training programs for 1 million people- 70 percent of them being women" in order to increase their resilience in the labor market and reinforce their adaptation to new changes and transformations. Within this framework, we gave training to 12 million 242 thousand and 46 people within a year."

Özer said that the Ministry designed a Family School Project in order to increase both life skills of families and make more contribution to the education of students and went on to say that: "We organized approximately 56 hour long training plan about communication between family members, psychosocial development, prevention of digital addiction, environment and climate change awareness, first aid and traffic knowledge as a part of the Family School Project. Approximately, 800 families attended these training programs within three months. Our target is to reach approximately two and half million families during 2023."

Minister Özer mentioned the village public center project adding that this project aims at increasing the quality of life in the villages of Türkiye.

"We revised all education institutions located in villages and inaugurated them for the service of our people. Village schools do not only offer education to children but they are also used as training centers for adults about agriculture and husbandry. We established a mechanism that offers lifelong learning and improvement opportunities for families," said Özer.

Özer stated that his Ministry founded a new digital platform for adults where they can get distance education and added, "Inshallah, we will achieve an important success in building a more equitable and inclusive education system by supporting both students and their parents as a result of our different social policies."
