Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk presented the "Buddy" holiday book prepared for primary school students to the children of agricultural workers.

Minister Selçuk visited families from the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa who are working in the fields near the Alibeyli village of Ankara's Kalecik district as agricultural workers. Selçuk chatted with children who are living with their worker families and asked how they spent their days in the field. During the chat, Minister Selçuk introduced "Buddy" the holiday book which is prepared for primary school students and distributed for free to the children. After the chat, Selçuk distributed books to 1st grade students and gave chess boards, toys and balls to children as gifts.

"We have to support children in their education life"
Selçuk stated that all directors of education in 81 cities of the country will be in the field in order to distribute exercise books especially "Buddy" holiday book adding that, "We are working in an effort to reach every single child in line with our equal education opportunities."

Underlining the beauty of getting together with children, Minister Selçuk went on to say that, "We are here to share the "Buddy" holiday book sets and other sources such as Anatolian Tales with children. This is an example, we have to visit children in all cities in order to distribute these books, respond to their needs and support the education life of our children. We are here today as a part of this project and we are chatting with children and learn their problems."

Noting that the Ministry wanted to turn this period when they learn through experience into useful achievement with small touches, Selçuk said, "How do you spend the summer holiday? What are your parents doing? They teach their children while they were working. I asked children if it is a cucumber and they respond as no and tell the correct answer. They talked about how and when to pick peppers. In this light, all regional directors of education and local administrators will work in an effort to reach these children and respond to their needs."
