MORE THAN 10 MILLION PEOPLE ENROLLED IN PUBLIC EDUCATION COURSES IN 10 MONTHS

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that more than 10 million and 470 thousand people have attended approximately 491 employment based courses organized as a part of lifelong learning activities of his Ministry at 1,000 public education centers and 29 advanced technical schools for girls located in 81 cities of the country.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that the Directorate General for Lifelong Learning has been organizing training programs for people of all ages and levels all over the country at 1,000 public education centers and 29 advanced technical schools for girls with the purpose of giving guidance services and quality education from cradle to grave.
 
"Within this framework, a total of 10 million 470 thousand 183 people have attended 491 thousand and 92 courses organized between January 1 and October 31. 4 million 248 thousand and 981 of these people were men and 6 million 221 thousand and 202 were women. In other words, 40.58 percent of them were men and 59.42 percent were women. Meanwhile, a total of 2 million 75 thousand and 479 people attended 107 thousand and 940 courses organized in October and majority of them were again women," said Özer.
 
Minister Özer shared following information about courses organized as a part of Family School Project; "Since April 6 to October 31, we have organized 15 thousand and 823 Family School training programs for parents and total of 401 thousand and 865 people, 92 thousand and 278 of them being men and 309 thousand and 587 women have attended these course programs. In October, a total of 264,818 people, 63,705 of them being men and 201,113 women, attended the courses organized as a part of the Family School Project."
 
Minister Özer also mentioned vocational and technical courses organized as a part of lifelong learning activities and said, "We have organized 137 thousand and 501 vocational and technical courses between January 1 and October 31 and 2 million 693 thousand and 111 people have attended these courses. 830 thousand and 109 of them were men and 1 million and 863 thousand of them were women. Number of vocational and technical courses opened in October was 32 thousand and 833 and 608 thousand and 31 people attended these courses. Majority of people attending the courses were women."
 
Noting that they aim at decreasing neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET) rates by increasing the number of employment based courses, Minister Özer gave following information about most preferred training programs; "Hygiene training program for people working in food and water sector, computer operating, decorative wood works, traditional hand embroidery, home textile, occupational health and safety and textile were among the most preferred training programs."
