NUMBER OF STUDENTS ENROLLED IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CENTERS EXCEEDED 1 MILLION

Number of students enrolled in vocational education centers that offered quality vocational education in 33 fields and 182 branches exceeded 1 million. Achievement of 1 million students by the end of 2022  target set by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced to the public with a video themed, "powerful voice of vocational education."

As of November 5, 2022, 1 million and 33 students enrolled in vocational education centers and 30 percent of students are women.
 
Vocational education in various different branches
Highest number of students in vocational education centers enrolled in beauty and hair care services (approximately 130 thousand students) while more than 100 thousand students enrolled in motor vehicle technologies, food and beverage services and fashion design technologies departments.
 
Any person who graduated from secondary school and wants to learn an occupation can apply to these centers without any age limit. These centers offer 3 year long apprenticeship and 1 year foremanship training in 33 fields and 182 branches. Apprentices are getting 1,658 liras monthly salary and foremen are getting 2,763 liras as a monthly salary.
 
The Ministry of National Education prepared a short film themed "the strong voice of vocational education" in order to announce to the public that it has achieved its target to enroll 1 million students in vocational education centers. The film highlights the motto of, "We will continue to reinforce vocational education for the development and productivity of our country."
 
"We will go beyond 1 million student goal until the end of the year"
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer reminded that they have made an important amendment in the Vocational Education Law No.3308 on December 25, 2021 and said, "We are happy to achieve the goal of enrolling 1 million students as set by our President after making required legal amendments under his strong leadership. The amendment turned these education institutions into a center of attraction for both employers and students. Before the amendment, the number of apprentices and foremen in Türkiye was 159 thousand and 1 million and 33 thousand students were enrolled in the vocational education centers. Small and medium size enterprises no longer have problems finding quality apprentices and foremen in the country. We will go beyond 1 million student goals until the end of this year."
 
Noting that reinforcement of vocational education centers will make an important contribution to decreasing young unemployment rates, Özer stated that, "I believe that these centers will provide us the opportunity to decrease 'neither employed nor in education or training' rates which is actively used especially by OECD countries in performance measurements."
