TÜRKİYE WEAVING ATLAS EXHIBITION OPENED IN İSTANBUL

Minister Özer attended the opening ceremony of the Türkiye Weaving Atlas exhibition organized at the İstanbul Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center with the purpose of promoting traditional weavings of Anatolia to the world with modern designs under the Made in Türkiye brand.

Following the exhibition organized at the Presidential Complex, "Weaving Atlas Exhibition" organized as a part of the "Türkiye Weaving Atlas" project carried out under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's spouse Emine Erdoğan with the purpose of collecting and displaying local weavings of the country was opened at the İstanbul Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center.
 
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said during his keynote speech that the Ministry does not only serve for education and training purposes but also plays an important role in reproduction of cultural heritage through departments affiliated to the Directorate of Lifelong Learning.
 
There are approximately 967 public education centers in the country and people are attending a variety of training programs organized in these centers.
 
"Public education centers are giving important services for the personal skill improvement of adults as a part of its lifelong learning activities. Our goal is to enroll one million people to the courses every month. 70 percent of those who attend these training programs are women. In other words, these training programs played an important role in increasing female employment rates and providing an opportunity for women to complete their education," said Minister Özer.
 
Advanced technical schools for girls carry cultural heritage to younger generations
Özer pointed out that the purpose of the advanced technical schools for girls is to add new forms to traditional artistic and cultural heritage of our country and carry them to younger generations.
 
"Based on this mission and function of advanced technical schools for girls, we have collected different weaving techniques and examples from different parts of the country. As long as we manage to keep these schools active and carry our traditions to younger generations by using modern forms, we would take an important step in becoming a country that has a say in the world in the 21st century," said Özer.
 
Advanced technical schools for girls aim at registering 10 thousand designs until the end of this year
Minister Özer stated all advanced technical schools for girls in the country also serve as R&D centers which play an important role in intellectual and industrial property rights.
