TÜRKİYE'S FIRST VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN THE FIELD OF SPACE AND AVIATION TECHNOLOGY IS OPENED

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that Türkiye's first vocational high school in the field of space and aviation technology, where the qualified human resources needed by the sector in the defense industry and new Vecihis will be trained, was opened in Elmadağ, Ankara.

All preparations were completed by establishing the program infrastructure for the opening of Türkiye's first vocational high school in the field of space and aviation technology by the Ministry of National Education, in cooperation with the Defense Industry Agency and the leading institutions and organizations of the sector.
 
Stating that Türkiye's aviation and space activities have started to gain momentum, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer pointed out that Türkiye's competitiveness with other countries has increased. Minister Özer said that projects such as: "Göktürk 1, Göktürk 2, Göktürk 3, Türksat 5A, Türksat 5B, İmece, Gökbey Helicopter, Anka UAV, SİHA, Hürkuş, Hürjet, Kızılelma, Aksungur UAV, Şimşek, Turna, Atak Helicopter, National Combat Aircraft, Bora, Sungur and Hisar missile systems are important steps that make them proud on behalf of Türkiye in the field of space and aviation.
 
Curriculum accepted by the Turkish Education Board
Emphasizing that the Ministry has taken an important step by taking action in the field of space and aviation through the dynamic vocational and technical education system, Minister Özer said that He stated that they have completed the works for the opening of a high school that will provide high school education in the field of aviation and space technologies for the first time in cooperation with the Defense Industry Agency and Türkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ). Özer announced that the aviation and space technology curriculum, which was prepared for disseminating aviation and space technology education and enriching the educational content, was accepted by the Turkish Education Board. 
 
Emphasizing that the curriculum was prepared by the commission consisting of the representatives of the Defense Industry Agency, Turkish Aeronautical Association University, ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, TAI, TEI, and field teachers, Özer stated that they opened the first vocational high school, which will provide education within the framework of the curriculum, in Elmadağ, Ankara. Stating that the high school was established on an area of 24 thousand 770 m2, Özer said that the high school consists of 3 main buildings: education, workshop and hostel. Stating that the school has 32 classrooms, 6 laboratories, 2 painting and music workshops and a conference hall, Özer said that the school hostel has a capacity of 200 beds, suitable for the accommodation of 64 female and 136 male students. Noting that students from other provinces will be accommodated in single rooms with bathrooms, computer and internet connection, Özer underlined that the school contains all the necessary workshop and laboratory facilities. Özer thanked everyone who contributed to the establishment of the school, especially the stakeholder institutions.
 
Emphasizing that the school is the first vocational high school in the field of aviation and space technology in Türkiye, Minister Özer said that Ankara Aviation and Space Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School will provide training as a project school. Expressing that the administrators and teachers of the school will be selected and recruited, Özer said that the school will start admitting students as from the 2023-2024 academic year. Stating that the school will provide education for 5 years, including 1 year of English preparatory class, Özer underlined that all students will be chosen according to the central exam score held by the Ministry of National Education.
 
Vecihis of Aviation will be raised in this school
Noting that the education to be given at the school is designed to prepare individuals for business life, Minister Özer said that their new goal in vocational education is aviation and space. Emphasizing that the high school where the qualified human resources needed by the sector in the defense industry and the new Vecihis will be trained, is a first in Türkiye, Özer said that the future of Türkiye's defense industry will be in the hands of the young people who will grow up in this school. 
 
Stating that there are design, manufacturing, impulsion and electronic systems in the field of aviation and space technology, Özer invited students and parents who have dreams of aviation and space to visit the school.
